Port Isaac

Audio

You will love getting to know Port Isaac, with its picturesque fisherman’s cottages and narrow streets and alleyways. Its busy working harbour and quaint village has retained its original charm and character and is unspoilt by commercialism.

Children will love exploring the rock pools and building sandcastles and when you’re ready for a walk, the surrounding coastal paths are dramatic and rugged as they travel through the coves and headlands. Sightings of rare birds and even seals or dolphins are not uncommon.

The village was made famous by the ‘Doc Martin’ TV series and is also home to Port Isaac Shanty singers, the 'Fisherman's Friends' who occasionally perform on the harbour during the summer.

You will be spoilt for choice for places to eat in Port Isaac, with its excellent pubs, restaurants and take-aways. Self-caterers are also well provided for with bakeries, fish cellars by the quay, and a small co-op at the top of the hill.

Things to do

You'll never be short of activities and things to do and see when staying at Lobster Cove.

Spend a day enjoying the gentle comings and goings in the harbour, rock-pooling on the beach or lose yourself in the quaint narrow streets of the centuries old fisherman's cottages with their gorgeous slate roofs and whitewashed walls.

With plenty of exploring to do, this ancient harbour town is also ideally situated for long days out hiking the coastal path up past Lobber Point, down past the Pine Haven valley and up again passing Varley Head. Stop and rest with a picnic at Port Quin; pack your swimmers for a refreshing dip in this cove that was once a thriving port for pilchards and tin.

Take your pick from several excellent sandy beaches just 10 minutes drive away; the surf haven of Polzeath beach, family and dog-friendly Daymer Bay and the watersport hub of Rock all lie to the East.

Parking

We are delighted to announce we have secured a private parking space for Lobster cove, which will be available for all bookings from January 2021
